Wesley Crusberg- Spiratruality in The Last Samurai
This movie happens to be on of my favorites if not my favorite because it deals with a man searching for what he was meant to be in his life. His name is Nathan Algren and he was a captain in our army in the 17th century. He is given a job in which he has to help modernize Japan and help them defeat Samurai who refuse to modernize because they still believe in thier old customs. algren becomes a prisoner fo war in which he is not ill treated. In thier village he learns alot about them adn himself and in return he helps them in thier rebellion. I enjoy this movie because Algren does find what he wants. He finds love and a since of belonging. Within his stay in the village he writes about God and spirutality. He says eh never has been a religious man but staying there he has changed. The Samurai are people who respect themselves and others as well as there surroundings. They believe thier swords are thier souls and they do not part with it at any time. It makes me think about my life and waht is it I hold as most beloved belonging. for the samurai it is thier soul and they are raised to not have regret not to be afraid and now it si a custom that is dead. There customs adn beliefs are dead and with that so si thier spiratruality. Do I pocess such a Spiratuality and am I even able to recieve it. I want to know what my purposs is and how am i supposed to do that? This movie has made me think and has changed my life just as Passion of the Christ did for many. It has made me question my beliefs and has had me wonder if I am on the right path spiratuality.
